Hello beautiful people,
How are you doing? I hope you and your families are well and are able to adjust to these new circumstances. Sending you all my love and support!
In today’s post I am going to share with you my top 10 Netflix recommendations to watch if you are self-isolating, to help you make your quarantine a little bit more enjoyable. Also since I now have more spare time I will be posting much more content on my blog and social media in the next weeks so stay tuned!
I must admit I am a huge fan of crime series and documentaries, so expect loads of them. Don’t worry, there will not be any spoilers! Let’s jump right into it:

1- Spirited Way
Category: Animation Film
One of my favourite movies in the entire world. The movie describes the story of Chihiro, a 10 year old Japanese girl who is moving to a new town with her parents. On the way to their new home, Chihiro’s parents decide to take a shortcut and end up in an little town that seems abandoned. When Chihiro’s parents spot a restaurant with delicious looking food and no-staff, they decide to stop by and eat. Chihiro refuses to try the food and decides to explore the town instead.
When she comes back to the restaurant, she finds that her parents have turned into pigs! To save her parents, Chihiro must discover the scary secret behind the abandoned town as she encounters strange spirits and other creatures that seek to prevent her from returning to the human world.
2- Cold Case Files
Category: Crime Documentaries
This is a 10 episode crime series (each episode completely independent) where high-skilled detectives use forensic science and criminal psychology to re-study past cases that were not resolved.
This show is truly shocking. Each episode is about 40 minutes long and you do not have to watch them in order. My favourite episode in number 3!
3- 3096 Days
Category: Biographical Drama
Based on a true story, this movie describes the kidnapping of the 10-year-old Natasha Kampusch, who was kept captive in a baseroom for over 8 years! The movie describes how she managed to survive and escape her kidnapper.
4- Nappily Ever After
Category: Romantic Comedy
The movie describes the story of Violet, a young black woman who seems to have the perfect life. Violet is a very successful business woman who is obsessed with embodying everyone else’s idea of perfection.
The movie is a romantic comedy that teaches us about the toxicity of perfection, the beauty of a black woman’s hair in all its forms, being a sincere consideration of a woman rewriting her own narrative.
5- Lion
Category: Drama Film
This movie will make you cry. We are introduced to the story of Saroo, a 5-year-old Indian boy who ends up being adopted by an Australian family after getting lost hundreds of kilometres away from home. When he grows up, he tries to search for this Indian birth parents.
6- Money Heists/ La Casa de Papel
Category: Crime Series
Alright, so I have heard people either love or hate this show. I absolutely love it (nothing to do with the fact that it takes place in Madrid, which is where I am originally from LOL)
The show is about a criminal mastermind who has a plan to pull off the biggest heist in the history. To help him carry his plan, he recruits the best thieves in the world.
There are three seasons released and Season 4 will launch in April.
7- When They See Us
Category: Drama Series
This four episode series follows the stories of five men who were wrongly convinced of rape. It is based on true events which took place in 1978, when a group of young boys were arrested for the rape of a young woman in New York.
The five guys are convicted even though there was no physical evidence linking the guys to the crime. Warning: It will make you cry.
8- Orphan
Category: Horror Film
One of the scariest movies I’ve ever watched. It’s one of those GOOD horror movies. The end is completely unexpected and wonderfully made.
The movie describes the story of a family who devastated by the loss of their unborn baby, decides to adopt a little girl (Esther) from a local orphan.
After a series of sinister events taking place, the mother starts to believe that Esther is not as innocent as she looks. This little girl is hiding a secret.
9- Corpse Bride
Category: Animation Film
This animation comedy describes the story of Victor Van Dot, who finds himself in an arranged marriage with a high society woman who he’s never met. After Victor ruins the wedding rehearsals, he ventures into the woods, where he meets a dead bride that takes him to the Land of the Dead. With two brides pining for him, Victor must decide between his fiancé or his new corpse bride.
10- The Alcàsser Murders
Category: Crime Documentary
Based on a true story, this documentary describes the tragic story of 3 spanish teenage girls who on the night on 1992 disappeared on their way to a nearby club. The girls planned to hitchhike to the party, and a witness claimed that she saw the girls get into a car populated by men. A few months later, their bodies were found buried.

I’ve seen Spirited Away. That’s a great movie! It’s hard to go wrong with a Miyazaki film. True crime shows really suck me in but then they make me anxious . It’s a battle 😂. The Alcàsser Murders sounds interesting. Thanks for the suggestion.
