The only foundation you need this winter: A review of the “Estée Lauder Double Wear”

Hello beautiful people,

I’m sure there are many girls who like me, are on the hunt for their holy grail foundation! To me, finding products for my skin type can be tricky and frustrating. My skin type is combination to dry, acne prone, textured and sensitive. I know, what a nice mixture!

I’m an advocate for all things self-care and following a daily beauty routine. The Gypsy Soul preaches about self-care and self-acceptance, so don’t think of makeup as a mask to cover up or hide. Makeup is art. Makeup is a creative outlet. Makeup is a form to express yourself. Hygiene, cleanliness and being nice to yourself are vital for a healthy mind. Remember that doing your makeup can be great way to put all your attention on yourself for a little while, which makes a great confidence booster! I personally don’t wear makeup everyday, not for any reason in particular, but because right now my skincare is my priority. However, when I do wear makeup, I like making sure that I am using good quality products that are not going to damage my skin.

This is the first post of my new series of beauty reviews, a regular feature on my blog from now on. I’m starting these series off with the newest foundation in my makeup collection- the Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Foundation. I know, I know. I’m quite late to the game. But the truth is, I already tried this foundation a couple of years ago during a very hot summer in Madrid, and it wasn’t my cup of tea. However, after all the hype I keep hearing about it on social media and real life, I decided to give it a second chance.

If you want to know my option and experience with this foundation keep on reading. Also, I have attached some pictures so you guys can see how this foundation looks on my skin:

PRICE

The Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation retails for £34. Yes, it is on the pricey side, but Estee Lauder is a high end brand and the quality of this product is actually amazing . You also don’t need much to get a nice base, which makes it up for the price.

SHADES/COLOUR

The colour range for the Double Wear includes 54 shades. I went to the store to get colour matched and discovered that I am the shade 4N1 SHELL BEIGE.

FINISH

When I first tried this foundation during summer time in Madrid, it felt quite cakey because of its coverage and the weather. However, now that it’s winter in the UK, the formula is very convenient.

Despite the rich formula, this foundation feels super light on the skin. Every time I wear it I get compliments on how flawless my skin looks. The formula is very long lasting- the longest I’ve had it for is 12 hours!! It also contains SPF 10, however, I still recommend that you wear your daily SPF underneath.

It does oxidise, which means it warms up on your skin.

HOW IT LOOKS ON MY SKIN:

Here are some pictures from a recent photo shoot I had in London a couple of days ago, for a secret project I am working on! This is how the Estée Lauder Double Wear looks on my skin:

MY OPINION:

I love the way this foundation blends and looks on my skin. I always get lots of compliments on how flawless my skin looks whilst wearing it. The price is totally justifiable, and in fact, for such a high-end brand, the price is very decent.

There are only a few downfalls I’ve noticed with this foundation: Firstly, the format is a bottle, which means it’s a bit tough getting the right amount of product. I think this can cause wastage and a bit of a mess. It would be better if it was a pump style bottle, which helps control the amount you’re getting out. Secondly, like I’ve mentioned before, I don’t think this foundation is very appropriate for a very humid and hot summer weather, the formula is pretty thick and it can get a bit cakey.

What is your favourite Winter foundation?

Thank you for reading,

until next time,

A xx
