How I make my own protein bars

Today I have a very quick post: Just like the title says, I’m going to show you how to make your own protein bars. YES. These are way healthier than regular ones, and of course, much more affordable and tastier. The recipe is plant based, no baking required and you can totally adapt the ingredients according to your preferences.

Let’s jump right into it:

Ingredients for 6 bars:

1 bar = 1 serving

-40 gr of rolled oats

-8 cubes of dark chocolate (preferably for baking)

-3 spoons of organic peanut butter

Optional ingredients:

-1 tablespoon of chia seeds

-1 tablespoon of pumpkin seeds


Cooking instructions:

-Put the chocolate cubes and the peanut butter in a microwave safe bowl.

-Microwave for 30 seconds.

-Mix both ingredients until you create a thick paste. You can add chia seeds if you want, I personally did, just to give it more nutritional value.

-Slowly, add the rolled oats into your mixture, keep stirring until you create a cookie dough- like texture.

-Your “cookie dough” is going to get hard. Don’t panic, that’s what’s supposed to happen.

-Shape your “cookie dough” as you wish. I chose to make it look like bars.

-Add your favourite toppings: I decided to go for pumpkin seeds and almonds.

-Keep it in the fridge for like 1h at least, so the mixture gets hard. The longer you leave it in the fridge, the better.

-Voilá! You’ve created your own protein bars.

Nutritional value

Just like I’ve mentioned before, each bar is a serving.

Each bar:

-140 kcal

-10 gr of plant based protein

-3 gr of sugar
